WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Dental implants are permanent false teeth consisting of a screw-shaped titanium post placed in a patient’s jawbone that supports prosthetic teeth. They are used to replace the root of damaged or missing teeth and provide a strong foundation for an abutment and dental crown. Dental implants can provide a natural aesthetic and a permanent, convenient, durable replacement option for a damaged smile. The titanium rod and your bone will fuse over time, resulting in a tooth replacement that looks and feels as comfortable as your teeth. While dental bridges or dentures may need to be adjusted or replaced over time, dental implants can last decades with good oral health habits at home. Likewise, they’re as easy to care for as your natural teeth. A good candidate for implants will have enough bone in their jaw to support the implant and excellent oral hygiene habits.

DENTAL IMPLANT SERVICES

At Soothing Dental, the health and wellbeing of your smile are important to us. Dental implants could benefit you if you have a severely damaged or missing tooth. Here’s what you can expect to take place during and after your initial consultation:

  • Dr. Vinton will perform an oral exam to diagnose your condition and create a personalized treatment plan based on your particular oral health needs.
  • If he determines that you are a good candidate for dental implants, our dental office will refer you to a dental implant specialist to receive the necessary treatment.
After the dental implants have been placed, it will take 3-6 months for them to fuse with your jawbone and for your mouth to heal completely.
  • Once your mouth has fully healed, you’ll return to our office, and Dr. Vinton will attach your dental crown
    to the implant.

To keep your dental implant in great shape, be sure to:

  • Brush your teeth two times a day
  • Floss daily
  • Avoid tobacco
  • Visit the dentist every six months for regular check-ups and cleanings

DENTAL IMPLANT COST

In many cases, dental insurance can help cover at least some of the costs of dental implant placement. The cost of your dental implant treatment will depend on how many implants you need and your dental insurance plan. RISKS OF NOT GETTING DENTAL IMPLANTS

At Soothing Dental, we understand that the decision to get dental implants is significant. Choosing not to replace missing or damaged teeth can lead to various oral health issues, such as misalignment of adjacent teeth, bite problems, and even further tooth loss. This can impact not only your oral health but also your overall well-being, leading to challenges in chewing and speaking. Moreover, without the structural support that dental implants provide, you risk jawbone deterioration over time, which can affect your facial structure. On the other hand, our dental implants, expertly placed by Dr. John Vinton, DDS, offer a durable and natural-looking solution. We help you weigh these considerations against potential long-term complications to make an informed decision.

POST-TREATMENT CARE AND MAINTENANCE

After the placement of dental implants at Soothing Dental, we ensure you receive comprehensive guidance for their care. In the initial days post-surgery, we recommend soft foods and avoiding hot beverages or straws to aid the healing process. Proper oral hygiene, including gentle brushing and flossing around the implant site, is crucial. We suggest using special interdental brushes to clean around the implants effectively. As part of our commitment to your oral health, we advise against smoking to promote healing and implant longevity. Regular check-ups and cleanings with our skilled dental hygienists are essential to maintain the health of your implants.
